Divorce
(Matthew 19: 1-12)And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there. The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause? And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away? He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery. His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry. But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
Adultery
includes physical adultery and spiritual adultery. For physical adultery, Jesus
said, “And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his
wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth
adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
"(19: 9). However, Jesus speaks of the Pharisees' question about physical
adultery, but at the same time speaks of spiritual adultery. Christ and the
saints are compared to couples. So, the analogy of the ten virgins is the same.
Christ and the saints are one with the Holy Spirit, but those who say that they
are in Christ but still believe in the law are those who commit spiritual
adultery. The Pharisees say they are God's people, but they think they must
obey the law.
Jesus likened
the law (law of wrath) and the law of the Holy Spirit through the parable of
the ten virgins. The five foolish virgins turned on the lamps, but failed to
prepare other oil barrels, and the wise five virgins turned on the lamps and
prepared other oil barrels. A lamp that has been lit means that it has been
invited to the church. But the other oil drum is speaking of the Holy Spirit.
The five foolish virgins who failed to prepare another oil barrel are still in
the law. Like Nicodemus, they are people who are trapped in the law who think
they are saved without knowing the meaning of being born again.
Today, the
church tells us that there are two kinds of people. People who are locked up in
the law and are born again. If the body of the body dies and is not born into a
spiritual body, all are trapped in the law. So the old man must die. The flesh
received from the parents is to be nailed with Jesus. In Romans 6: 8-9, 『Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live
with him: Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death
hath no more dominion over him. 』Jesus Christ did not
die of his physical mind, but the body he received from his parents. Those who
died with him must believe that the body is dead, not the heart. It does not
mean that it will happen when the future flesh dies, but it does so in the
present of faith.
In 1
Corinthians 15:44, “It is sown a natural body; it
is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual
body. Those who are not reborn as spirit bodies cannot enter into Christ.
However, all who say they believe in Jesus and still think of the flesh from
their parents are committing adultery. The Bible tells us not to love the
world, but those who say they believe in Christ, but who love the world, commit
spiritual adultery.
