That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John is a letter written by the apostle John. The apostle John wanted to introduce God who was light through this epistle, and to live as a beloved child of God by living and acting in the light. In particular, in verses 1-2, he introduces Jesus, who enables fellowship with the lighted God. The apostle John emphasized two things by introducing Jesus, the word of life that he had heard, seen, and touched, as follows.
``From the beginning'' and ``being with the Father,'' that is, he wanted to preach Jesus, the Word of Life, who had been with Heavenly Father since the beginning, and the apostle John said that he was trying to have a relationship with God. The apostle John reveals the purpose of writing this letter "to share joy with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, to be full of joy."
Then the apostle John introduces God. 『This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” God is light. There is no darkness. That is why it is impossible to have a relationship with God unless all sins are cleansed by the blood of Jesus who has been with the Father since the beginning.
『But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 』 To continue fellowship, John stresses that believers must be cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ and live by walking in the God of light.
The apostle John introduces God.『If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 』 God is forgiving those who repent. When you acknowledge that you are a sinner and repent of leaving God, God forgives you and cleanses you from injustice. In order to enter into the God of light, we must enter into Christ. So, we must die with Jesus Christ so that we can enter the life that has been lighted. Repentance means dying with Jesus.
Here, looking only at the words of 1:9, salvation seems too easy. The word confession means a confession between God and human confession. Confession is the word "Homologer". It is a statement about how the confession of human sins is sympathetic to God. It means that if God sympathizes with the sins of those who confess, he will forgive them. King David had his men go to war, causing them to die. And David took his wife. Committed a tremendous sin. It is different how God feels about David's sin and how David himself feels sin. Many people in the church also confess their sins with their conscience and guilt.
By the way, he may think that such sins have been forgiven, but how many people really like it that touch their hearts? We must take seriously the thought that if we confess our sins, we are forgiven. Do not be fooled by the placebo. Placebo is a fake medicine. It's a doctor's deception, but it's when the medicine works. The salvation of many churches today is like a placebo. People come to think that if they commit sins, all their sins will be forgiven. God sent Nathan the prophet to make David aware. This is 『Homorogare』. This is impossible with human power. I confessed my sins, and I believe that God has forgiven them. However, if you do not understand the sins through the grace of the Holy Light of the Lord, you will not be able to reach Homogalore. If you confess only your sins without being in this state, you think that you have been forgiven for all your sins, and you will be saved if you believe without your wife's repentance.
The Son of God came to earth, and Jesus Christ paid for the sins of mankind on the cross. Nathan made Anger out of David because of the word of God, saying, "He must die." However, before Nathan came, he must have confessed numerous sins against the stealing of Uriah's wife. God teaches through Nathan that it is not repentance. He teaches us, "He must die." He is the old man of David's desire to die in the heart of David. We confess our sins with the guilt of our conscience, but it is very different from what we realize under the good light of God. God sent Nathan to realize that he was to die because of the Word. Through God's Word, we show and understand the old man who must die. If you do not realize this, the confession of sin is not what God sympathizes with.
