Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke

(2 Timothy 4:1-4) Icharge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

These words are Paul's command and request to Timothy, who was at the end of his life. Paul first commanded Timothy to proclaim his words. He commanded Timothy to continue to devote himself to preaching the word, good or bad. He commanded them to rebuke, warn, and exhort while patiently teaching to the end. Paul again reminded Timothy that it was the work of the evangelist and his ministry. Paul, who devoted his life to evangelism, expressed his life as a good fight in one word. War means spiritual warfare. This is a battle against Satan. What is needed for evangelism is a strategy for spiritual warfare. Fighting requires strategy and tactics. Satan lies and causes strife. But the evangelist must not be discriminated against, and he must target everyone. And the evangelist must evangelize with patience. He must also have self-control. This is because evangelism can lead to differences of opinion and attack.

Through Paul's invitation to Timothy, "Bring your cloak," we can see that Paul is preparing for the coming winter. There is something Paul wants to say to them in preparation for the last moment through the exhortations Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me. Paul had Luke who was by his side, and Mark, his co-worker to come to visit. Paul also introduces other co-workers: Prisca, Aquila, and Onesiphorus, Erastus, Trophimus, Ubulus, Bude, Reno, and Claudius. So, although Paul is in prison, he feels that he is evangelizing together.

Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and he will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom his : to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The giver of strength was the Lord who stood by Paul's side and gave him strength. It was also his faith in the Lord who would protect him from all dangers and lead him to heaven by saving him from the evil ones in the future. Faith in the Lord and in the Lord became the driving force for Paul to not lose hope even in the face of discouragement, and it became the strength to sing praises even in the harsh environment.

The wind of evangelism that started in this way is still blowing to this day. However, the contents are gradually diluted or distorted, and it seems to return to the state before the early church. This is an attempt to reestablish the law. Today, the word of truth is running out of things. In Matthew 24:4-5, And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and he shall deceive many.

Most church people today think that the Word of God is overflowing. By the way, if people say that the words of the true truth are running out, would people believe them? Jesus tells the church in Laodicea that they are poor. The people of the church in Laodicea think of themselves as rich, but Jesus is saying that the church is naked and needy.

God gave the law to Israel. They would have thought that they were keeping the law and living in the Word of God. However, they actually crucified Jesus Christ, who is the truth, to death. If they had discovered Christ in the law, they could enter the true truth, but they did not discover Christ, but entered the path of those who judge good and evil, who think that they can become like God. The word of God is not in the law, but written in the heart. Those who do not have the Word of God written in their hearts are those who do not have the Word of God. The law is a shadow of the good things to come, not the true image.

The Bible describes the famine of God's Word as, "Man will stagger from sea to sea and from north to east to seek the word of the Lord, but will not find it."

People say that there is the word of God all over the world, but even if you try to find the word of truth, you cannot find it. False Christs and false prophets are saying that they have received a revelation from God through a vision or miracle. They even saw heaven and hell. That is why they heal diseases, predict the future, and bring worldly blessings. Anything except that we must die on the cross with Jesus Christ is highly likely to be a delusion.

Salvation does not require receiving any visions or experiencing miracles, but when we repent and believe that our old self died with Jesus, God grants the grace of being born again to the saints. Therefore, being one with God in Christ is salvation. The power of God comes only when the existence of self is denied. The wisdom of self only blocks the wisdom of God. In Matthew 15:9, But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Also, in Matthew 15:14, Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

What God wants is to believe in the Son (Jesus Christ). To believe is to become one with the Son. To become one, we must deny ourselves and be united with the Son who died on the cross. What is preached other than the cross is without experience and without fulfillment. This is what we need to go out into the world to evangelize. When people say anything else, they say what they want. So this becomes a deceitful person. If you don't understand God's will properly, you become the one who crucified Jesus. God's will is for us to repent and turn to God, because they say they believe in Jesus only in words, but they live with sin every day and demand the blood of Jesus every day. Everyone who repents of God is dead to sin and dead to the world. This is to say that they believe in Jesus while loving the world without the old man dying.
