Those who think that they can be saved just by believing in the name of Jesus
Those who
think that they can be saved just by believing in the name of Jesus
John 20:31 “But these are
written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and
that believing ye might have life through his name.
In "ye might
believe that Jesus is the Christ", to believe is to believe that fact.
However, the latter is based on that fact, “so that they may have
life through his name.” Saints must obtain life in heaven to be saved.
So, in the Bible, the word faith has two meanings. It is what I believe in the
flesh, and faith that is a gift from God. The former has the expression of
objective fact-checking. For example, in the Bible, it is said, “Even demons believe
and tremble.” Fact check is not salvation. Believing that Jesus is the Son of God is
not salvation in itself. The latter is to have life in association with that
fact.
Faith without repentance is not the faith that leads to life. After
John the Baptist said that Jesus was the Son of God, the first man in the Bible
to say that he was possessed by a demon.
“You are the Son of the Most High,” he fell down and
bowed. That's why Jesus said, "Be still." Since the source is a
demon, Jesus is not worshiped by demons.
『ye might believe that Jesus is
the Christ.』 These words are only the beginning of
salvation. This is the Exodus from the Old Testament. In Jude 1:5, 『I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this,
how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward
destroyed them that believed not.』
The “faith that gains life” is not a faith that I believe, but a faith that
comes from above, and is a “belief in his name”.
“Because they believed in his name” has the same meaning
as “to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the
right to become children of God.” This is the faith to enter Canaan. It is to go
into Canaan and his name will work with power. In Acts 3:16, “And his name through
faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the
faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of
you all. ’ This faith is the faith born of water and the Holy Spirit.
It is a faith that
does not appear until you repent. Power is revealed in the name of Jesus. If
the name of Jesus is in the heart of those who profess to believe, the spirit
within us will come to life. However, the reality is that many people say that
they have faith while calling on the name of Jesus even though they do not have
the name of Jesus in their hearts. If you have the name of Jesus in your heart,
the Lord is Jesus. Because the name means the owner. It is illegal for me to be
the master and to work miracles in the name of Jesus, and it is only the power
of the devil.
“Believing that Jesus is the Son of God” and “I am the Lord” are two different
things.
If we believe that
Jesus is the Son of God, the power of the name will be revealed only when Jesus
becomes the master. Believers believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the
merits of the blood of the cross, but those who do not repent cannot be saved.
We must repent and be born again of water and the Holy Spirit. 『In the name』 has the same meaning as 『In the name of Jesus.” “By the power of the
Holy Spirit” has the same meaning as “In”. “In the Spirit” is the same as “In the Holy Spirit.” Therefore, 『Those who profess to believe』 must be in the
name. That is, we must enter into the name of Jesus. If the master is me, he
cannot go into that name. So, Jesus must be the master. Power comes only when
Jesus becomes the master.
John 1:12, 『But as many as received him,
to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on
his name.』 Is it okay for a pastor to say something
like this to a person who comes to church for the first time? 『Those who believe in his name』 are those who
were not born of blood, of the will of the flesh, or of the will of man, but of
God (those who have been born again). We must turn from the world to God. We
can tell who is the owner by the fruit. In John 5:42, “But I know you, that
ye have not the love of God in you.” This word has the same meaning as in John 1:12.
The name of “those who believe in
his name” is Jesus. He said, “I came in my Father’s name.” The “Father’s name” is “Jesus Christ.” In the Lord’s Prayer, “Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.” it is jesus christ Jesus Christ, who appeared
in this world, is the name of God the Father. The Lord said to Peter, “You will deny me
three times,” and he said this just before his arrest. John 14:13-14 『And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I
will do it.
But Jesus revealed the name of his Father. Before dying in the Garden
of Gethsemane, 16:23 says, “And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will
give it you.” When the hell is “that day”? That day is the day
Jesus died on the cross. What the saints ask the Father on that day means “Ask in the name of
the Son.”
And, in verse 24, “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask,
and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.”
Jesus is still speaking in the Garden of Gethsemane. And in verses
25-27, “These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh,
when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly
of the Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you,
that I will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because
ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God. Jesus did not say
to ask in the name of his Son for three years, but after his death on the
cross, he says, “Now, ask yourselves in my name.”
In 16:30-31, “Now are we sure that thou knowest all things,
and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou
camest forth from God. Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? When the
disciples say they believe in Jesus, Jesus said, “Do you believe?” All of you must deny
me. The disciples believe in the objective fact that Jesus is the Son of God.
who is my master
In Galatians 3:22-23, “But the scripture hath concluded all under sin,
that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which
should afterwards be revealed.
This is not a promise made through faith in Jesus Christ, but a promise
made through faith of Jesus Christ. It is not the faith we believe, but the
faith that Jesus believes in God. You have to go into that belief. Only then
can we believe in God in Jesus Christ, and God allows the Holy Spirit to work
in Jesus Christ. The important thing is to get into Jesus. When that happens,
the faith of Jesus will work in us, sin will be turned away, and Satan will be
turned away. As Ephesians 2:8 says, this is a gift from God.
