Not one of them will perish, but the son of destruction
Not one of them will perish, but the son of
destruction
John 17:9-12 『I pray
for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for
they are thin. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified
in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come
to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given
me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept
them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is
lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled 』
Jesus
prays earnestly to God before he dies on the cross and returns to the original
kingdom of God. Jesus' prayer is that the disciples are in the world, and that
the Father will protect them in His name. It is a request for God the Father to
protect the twelve disciples in Christ, the Word.
John 17:21 『That
they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also
may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.』 This means that the disciples also become one with the Father in
Christ, just as the Father and the Son become one through the Holy Spirit.
This is the content of Jesus' prayer to God
for the result of all that would come from the resurrection while he was with
his disciples before his crucifixion. The content is, "Please make us
one." He prays, "Just as the Father and I are one, please make the
disciples and their disciples become one with the Father in Christ."
In Ephesians 5:30-32, “For we are
members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man
leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two
shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and
the church.』
Genesis 2:22-24 also has the same meaning:
"And the rib which the LORD God had taken from man he made into a woman,
and he brought her to the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and
flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken out of
man." Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to
his wife, and they shall become one flesh." Just as Adam and Eve were
originally one body, Christ and the church are one body.
Christ is the one sent from God in the kingdom of God. From
Adam, a member called Eve came out. When that member came out, it was not one
body. That is, it became two bodies. God said that this man (Christ) would
leave his parents (God) and go to the members in the world, and unite with
those members and become one, bringing them to God. This word is explained
through the apostle Paul in Ephesians 5:30-32.
John
17:22-23 『And the glory which thou gavest me I
have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I in them,
and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may
know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.』 Becoming one with God the Father is the way of salvation. To become
one is to become one through Jesus Christ. To become one through Jesus Christ,
one must believe that he died with Jesus and participate in the present
resurrection with him. In other words, those who are born from heaven become
one with God the Father.
After
Jesus prayed for his disciples to become one with God the Father, he said in
John 17:12, "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name:
those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of
perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.."
There is a problem with translation here. Looking
If we translate it again, it says, "While I
was with them, I protected them in Your name, which You gave Me, and I kept
them without letting any of them perish. If there is no Son (Son of Man), then
there is only the son of perdition, so that the scripture may be
fulfilled." The sentence “not one of them will perish” should be included
in the first part, but it is translated in the second paragraph, which makes it
misleading to think that it is only connected to the children of destruction.
Matthew 24:37-39 "But as
the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in
the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and
giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not
until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the
Son of man be." This is a statement that the time of Noah is the same as
the time of the Son of Man.
The statement in
John 17:12 that if there is no Son of Man, all are sons of perdition, and
Genesis 6:12-13 have the same meaning. "God saw the earth, and behold, it
was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth. And God said
to Noah, 'The end of all flesh has come before me, for the earth is filled with
violence through them; and I will destroy them with the earth.'"
The Son of Man is the ark. Without the ark, no one can be saved, and
without the Son of Man, no one in the world can be saved. Noah and his family
of eight entered the ark. The ark has the same meaning as Jesus’ death on
the cross. The ark symbolizes the grave. The eight people entered Jesus’ death. In
other words, the eight people died together with Jesus on the cross. Then God
resurrects them. So when the flood ended and the water receded and the ark
reached land, they came out of the ark. Those who came out of the ark symbolize
becoming new creations. They symbolize the resurrection of Christ.
Genesis 8:21 "And the LORD smelled the soothing aroma, and he said
in his heart, 'Never again will I curse the ground (adamah) because of man
(adam), for the intent of man's (adam's) heart is evil from his youth; and
never again will I destroy every living thing, as I have done.'"
The person at the top
represents the first man, Adam (death on the cross), and the person at the back
represents the last man, Adam (the resurrected Christ). Therefore, those who
inherited the flesh of the first man, Adam, are those who have evil hearts and
should die on the cross, but because of the Son of Man (the resurrected
Christ), they do not curse the earth (those who are in Christ). If there were
no Christ, the Son of Man, we would all be children of destruction, but God
sent Christ into the world to save the people of the world and preached the
word of repentance, but no one repented. Just as God saved the eight people in
the time of Noah, we earnestly pray that He will protect the twelve disciples
who remain now and enable them to preach the gospel of salvation.
