Question 57. What benefits does Christ provide by his mediation?

Answer. Christ provides redemption by his mediation, along with all other benefits of the covenant of grace.

Since Jesus mediates between God and sinners, Jesus takes away sin and cleanses the conscience of believers through his blood that he died on the cross for the saints. Hebrews 9:14 How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

The righteousness of Jesus Christ, who offered his body once for all on the cross and who is now seated at the right hand of God after his resurrection, is transferred to the saints, so that they are made holy once for all. Hebrews 10:10 "By that will, we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all."
