Question 32: What do you mean when you call Him "Jesus"?

Question 32: What do you mean when you call Him "Jesus"? Answer: It means Savior. This is the name given to Him by an angel at God's command. Acts 18:4-5 “Every Sabbath Paul reasoned in the synagogue and persuaded both Jews and Greeks. When Silas and Timothy came down from Macedonia, Paul was held fast to the word and testified to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.” Regarding the statement that Jesus is Christ, it means that Jesus is the name of Jehovah, and Jehovah became Christ. This was planned before the creation of the world, and it was caused by the sin of the angels. It means that all spirits born as humans on earth are God's people. However, they neither recognize God as King nor seek to know Him. Matthew 1:21, "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." Matthew 28:18-20 “Then Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go ...

Question 31: What does this passage mean?

Question 31: What does this passage mean? Answer: It speaks of acknowledging the Son of God as our Savior and of how He rescued us from death and brought us salvation. Matthew 3:16-17 “And when Jesus had been baptized, he went up immediately from the water. And behold, the heavens(ton uranon) were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, ‘This is my beloved Son(ho huios), in whom I am well pleased.’” Jesus is the one who was directly declared by God to be the Son of God. The ton uranon (τῶν οὐρανῶν) is also the kingdom of God in the heart. That is why the plural is used. The voice of the Father is heard from heaven, clearly identifying Jesus Christ as the Son (ho huios), and we can see that the Holy Spirit descends upon Him. Ho huios is the Son with the article, and is used only for Jesus Christ. If there is no article, it is simply the Son (adopted son). Those who are in Christ can also be like this. T...

Question 30: Now let us move on to the second part.

[Jesus Christ] Question 30: Now let us move on to the second part. Answer: I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. Latin Filium eius unicum, Dominum nostrum, English translation His only Son, our Lord,   The English Apostles' Creed reads, "His only Son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit," so the fourth and fifth sections are combined. There is no difference in meaning. The phrase "only Son" means there is no one else but the Son. The phrase "only Son" means not the Son of Man, but the only Son of God. As the Son of Man, Jesus had many brothers.

Question 29: What benefit is it to you to know this fact?

Question 29: What benefit is it to you to know this fact?   Answer: It is very beneficial. If demons and evil people had the ability to do anything against God's will, it would be a miserable thing. In that case, as long as we are threatened by them, we would never be able to possess peace of conscience. However, we have reason to rest and rejoice because we know that God restrains them and that they cannot do anything without God's permission. This is because God has promised to be our protector and keep us safe. The object of a believer's spiritual warfare is not Satan and his messengers, but the carnal mind within. The carnal mind resists the Holy Spirit. Romans 7:21-25: "So I discover this law: that when I want to do good, evil is present with me. For in my inner self I delight in the law of God, but I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind and making me a captive to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! ...

Types of Faith and Tests of the Authenticity of Faith

Types of Faith and Tests of the Authenticity of Faith   Justification by faith means that one obtains salvation through faith in Jesus. It may sound simple, but it carries much meaning. For believers today, saying that they believe in Jesus means that when a believer believes that Jesus has become the atoning sacrifice on their behalf, they receive forgiveness from all sins and attain salvation. Is the subject of the statement "I believe in Jesus" me or Jesus? Naturally, believers will consider themselves to be the subject of their faith. In Romans 3:21-24, it says, "But now a righteousness from God has been revealed apart from the law, which is attested by the law and the prophets. This righteousness of God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to everyone who believes, without distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by God ’ s grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus." “ Through faith in J...

Question 28: Then are demons (both Satan and evil spirits) and wicked people also under God's sovereignty?

Question 28: Then are demons (both Satan and evil spirits) and wicked people also under God's sovereignty? Answer: Although God does not lead them through His Holy Spirit, He controls them, so they cannot move an inch unless He permits it. Furthermore, God restrains them to accomplish His will, even if it is contrary to their will and intentions. God has granted Satan authority to rule over those who are not in Jesus Christ, and both Satan and his messengers are under the dominion of God's power. Satan tempts believers, acts as an adversary to Jesus Christ who defends them, and accuses and prosecutes those who sin. Satan prevents those who are under the law from escaping. Satan approaches believers when they do human works. Therefore, Satan gives believers a thorn in the flesh. Those who are in Jesus Christ are under the dominion of the Holy Spirit, and therefore are naturally under God's sovereignty. A saint under the dominion of the Holy Spirit is one who has obta...

Question 27: Then, since maintaining creation in its proper state is a greater task than creating it once, why do you call God simply the Creator?

Question 27: Then, since maintaining creation in its proper state is a greater task than creating it once, why do you call God simply the Creator? Answer: This does not mean that God, after completing the great task of creating creation with His own hands, abandons it and does not care for it. Rather, it means that just as the world was first created by God, He still maintains it in that state, and that heaven, earth, and all creatures could not maintain their existence without His power. Furthermore, because God holds all creatures in His hands, He has the authority to rule and govern all things. Therefore, because God is the Creator of heaven and earth, He directs all natural order through His love, power, and wisdom. This means that He gives rain and drought, hail and storms, good weather, abundant harvests and famine, health and various diseases. In short, this means that God always places all creatures under His rule so that they may serve Him according to His will. God's pl...

The Password to the Door to the Kingdom of God

The Password to the Door to the Kingdom of God   When looking at a house today, there is a front door, and most homes have smart keys that require a password to open. Just as one cannot enter a house without knowing the password, I think that the Kingdom of God also has a password. It means that the condition for entering the Kingdom of God is not simply living a life of hard work, devotion, and sacrifice, but rather that there is a mutual promise, like a password. This mutual promise is a covenant between God and man, and that is what the password is. Ephesians 5:31-32 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is profound, as I speak concerning Christ and the church." Here, the word "mystery" appears. The Apostle Paul said, "A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is great." What does ...

Question 26: Do you exclude other creatures from the words "heaven and earth"?

Question 26: Do you exclude other creatures from the words "heaven and earth"? Answer: No. Other creatures are also included in these two words, for all creatures belong either to heaven or to earth. Heaven represents the Kingdom of God, and the earth represents the material world. The Kingdom of God is a spiritual world where God is the master, and in the Kingdom of God, angels exist as spiritual creatures. The material world is where creatures made of matter exist, such as humans and animals. Humans are beings who combine spirit and body. Although God is also the master of the material world, for a period from creation to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God permitted Satan to rule over it. Therefore, Satan and his angels exist within the material world. This means they do not exist materially, but rather spiritually, ruling over the spirits within the body.

Question 25: Why did you add that God is the Lord who created heaven and earth?

Question 25: Why did you add that God is the Lord who created heaven and earth? Answer: Since God has revealed Himself to us through His works, we must seek and find Him in them. For our intellect is incapable of understanding God's essence. However, the world is like a mirror to us, through which we can see God to the extent that we are able to know Him. In Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth," "beginning" means "first," or "head." "Heaven and earth" refer to heaven and earth. "Heaven" does not refer to the ethereal sky, but rather to the kingdom of God, and "earth" refers to the material world. God is in His kingdom, so why did He create the earth out of dust? The earth is like a prison, created to confine the spirits of angels who sinned in God's kingdom. That's why Genesis 1:2 says, "Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, ...

Question 23-24

Question 23: In what sense do you think God is omnipotent? Answer: This does not simply mean that God has power but no longer uses it; rather, it means that God holds all creatures in His hand and sovereignty, disposes of all things according to His providence, governs the world according to His will, and directs all that happens as He pleases. The word omnipotent has a variety of meanings. It means being able to do everything, but its meaning can be expressed more specifically as follows: First, God is the One who creates something from nothing with His words. Second, He is the God of order. We can see that God plans everything and operates according to that plan. Third, He is eternal life, without death. Therefore, He resurrected Jesus, who died on the cross. All life is lived by the life given by God. Fourth, He is not bound by time and space. He exists equally in the past, present, and future.   Question 24: So, according to what you say, God's power is n...

Question 21-22

[God the Father] Question 21: Now, tell us the first part of the Apostles' Creed. Answer: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Latin: Credo in Deum Patrem omnipotentem, English: I believe in God the Father Almighty.   The English translation is no different from the English Apostles' Creed we use today. Question 22: Why do you call God "Father"? Answer: It is the name by which Jesus Christ calls God (the Father). He is the eternal Word of God, begotten of God (the Father) from all eternity. Then, when He appeared in the world, He was acknowledged and known as the Son of God. From the fact that God is the Father of Jesus Christ, it follows that God is also our Father. Jesus Christ is both the Son of Man and the Son of God. Jesus Christ died on the cross as a substitute, bearing all the sins of the first man's sinful body as the Son of Man, thus fulfilling what was planned before the foundation of the world. And as the Son of God, He was resurr...

Question 20

Question 20: Do you understand that it is not at all inappropriate for us to clearly distinguish three persons in the one God, and that God is not divided (separated) in spite of this? Answer: Yes. In today's church community, believers call God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, based on the doctrine of the Trinity. However, nowhere in the Bible does it say God the Son or God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ calls God the Father and is the Son of God. Furthermore, the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Jehovah in the Old Testament and the Spirit of Jesus (or the Spirit of Christ) in the New Testament. Jesus was born both as the Son of Man and as the Son of God. Although he was in very nature God, he did not consider equality with God something to be grasped. Philippians 2:6 says, "Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped." Why must Jesus be the Son of God, not God Himself? First, because God is revea...
