Parable of the sower
Parable of
the sower
(Mark 4:3-8) 『Hearken; Behold,
there went out a sower to sow:And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by
the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell
on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up,
because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and
because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among the thorns, and
the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And the other fell
on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought
forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred.』
In the parable of the sower, sowing is sowing the word of God. The Word
is about the kingdom of God. When these seeds fall into the world, there are
various reactions. The kingdom of God has already come, but the response has
been different. In Jesus’ parable, the meaning
of the parable is explained again. Some people could not accept the kingdom of
God that Jesus preached, some accepted it and then abandoned it, and although
there were very few, there were some who accepted it well. But, that is heaven.
The parable of the sower is a message about how to treat Jesus Christ,
who is heaven. However, this reaction can occur in one believer at the same
time. For a believer, it can be like a roadside, a rocky field, a thorny field,
or a transition into a good field. God works in the hearts of believers to make
this happen. That is the kingdom of God on this earth. The kingdom of God is
not a utopian kingdom that will come in the future, but it will appear in this
present form. In the hearts of believers, good land and evil land coexist, and
wheat and tares coexist. Jesus tells the parable of the wheat and the weeds
right after the parable of the sower. The parable of heaven involves both wheat
and tares. So, God increases the number of believers from thirty to sixty to
one hundred. That is why there is also the patience of saints.
