8. Quail and manna

 8. Quail and manna

Exodus 16:13-14. And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host. And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground.

Quail symbolizes evening. Birds are unclean animals, meaning sin and death. However, Sherav has the meaning of mortal change. It signifies the change that comes to life when one dies to sin. In Romans 6:5 it says, For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: and in 6:7 it says, For he that is dead is freed from sin. Do it. So Sherav means that when the Word is fulfilled in the Father and the Son, the Holy Spirit comes to them.

The Holy Spirit covers Et Mahaneh (their camp). In the morning, there is dew around Mahane, and when the dew goes up to the sky, a small, round frost-like thing (manna) appears in the wilderness. The word of grace is visible in the wilderness. Dew (tal) is in the law of grace. The dew ascending to heaven means that the law is revealed to them. That is why the words of Father, Son, and I becoming one can be seen. So, when they realize that they have left their father and lament, God gives them meat to eat. Meat symbolizes Jesus Christ on the cross.
