God’s Wisdom in Mystery
God’s Wisdom in Mystery
1 Corinthians 2:6-9“But we speak wisdom among those who are
mature, not the wisdom of this world, nor the wisdom of the rulers of this
world which is perishing; but the wisdom of God in mystery, which has been
hidden, which God ordained before the ages for our glory. This wisdom (eis
doxan hemon) none of the rulers of this age knew; for if they had known, they
would not have crucified the Lord of glory. As it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has
heard, and what no mind has conceived is prepared for those who love God.’”
Wisdom
refers not to the wisdom of the world, but to the wisdom of God, and it is said
to be what God established before the creation of the world. It is a hidden
secret, but revelation is made known as the Ho Logos, who is the Word, dwells
within the hearts of the saints. Eis doxan hemon (εἰς δόξαν ἡμῶν) signifies the establishment of the
Kingdom of God on this earth. The Ho Logos, who dwells within the hearts of the
saints, signifies that the Kingdom of God has been established on this earth.
Regarding
what God ordained before the foundation of the world, looking at Ephesians
1:3-5, it states, "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places
in Christ, by choosing us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we
should be holy and blameless in His sight in love, having predestined us
according to His good pleasure to be His sons through Jesus Christ." It
was planned before the foundation of the world that the saints become the sons
of God in Christ.
Therefore,
just as God the Father predestined Christ, and God Himself became the first man
and the body of sin to share that body of sin with people, and the last man,
Jesus Christ, died on the cross for that body of sin, and just as God
resurrected Christ because the saints died on the cross united with Jesus, He
gives the saints a spiritual body to resurrect them to their former state,
making them spiritually sons of God.
This is what is meant by a secret. A secret is something
that no one knows, but the revelation of that secret becomes a revelation.
Ephesians 5:31-32: "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and
be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh (sarka). This mystery
is great, as I speak concerning Christ and the church."
Man signifies one who has departed from God
the Father (Christ who came into the world). Wife signifies spirits who have
departed from God and are confined in the world. These spirits enter into
Christ and become spiritually one. Thus, the saint becomes a son of God. The
reason God created husband and wife is to convey that you are all beings who
have departed from God, yet you are beings who must become one with God again
through Christ. Therefore, the family becomes the foundation of the church
community. Here, too, *sarka* (σάρκα) does not mean the flesh, but the flesh (the spiritual body). This
is what God planned before the creation of the world.
If it were simply about husband and
wife, it would not be a secret. However, the great secret is the relationship
between Christ and the Church (the temple that dwells within the hearts of the
saints). It is the fact that those who are in Christ become a temple within
their hearts where the Logos dwells. This is the secret.
"It is written, 'What God has
prepared for those who love him, no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind
has conceived.'" The phrase "what is written" refers to the
words of the prophet Isaiah in the Old Testament.
Isaiah 64:1-4 “May You split the heavens and come down, and may the mountains tremble
before You as fire consumes brushwood and as fire boils water; may Your enemies
know Your name, and may the nations tremble before You. For the mountains
trembled before You when You came and did fearful things which we did not
imagine. For no God of old has heard, nor has anyone heard with an ear, nor
seen with an eye, except You, who has done such things for those who wait on
Him.”
The people of
Judah wept greatly by the various rivers while in captivity in Babylon.
Thinking they would never play the harp again, they hung it on a willow tree.
Nevertheless, God did not restore them immediately but waited until the
appointed time. At that time, the people of Judah must have earnestly hoped
that God would descend so that the mountains would tremble. This passage
testifies to what will happen when God descends. It particularly emphasizes
fire. Even when God called Moses, He was present in the midst of the fire
burning in the bush.
The greatest
characteristic of fire is that it burns. Anything that catches fire vanishes
without a trace. Water controls that fire, but even water dries up before
powerful fire. I pray that God, who is as strong as fire, will be present, so
that the Gentiles and the enemies may know who God is and tremble before Him.
This is a
recollection of the event when God descended upon Mount Sinai while the
Israelites were staying in the wilderness of Sinai. It confesses that at that
time, God performed fearful deeds that the Israelites had not anticipated.
"Not anticipated" means that they did not expect it. Just as God
revealed His divinity by working in unexpected ways in the past, the prayer is
for Him to work in the same way now.
In the New
Testament, the presence of God manifesting in the hearts of believers involves
such amazing works taking place. 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18 clearly describes the
presence of the Logos in the heart: "For we tell you this by the word of
the Lord: that those who are still alive and remain until His coming
(parousian) will by no means precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord
Himself will come down from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel and with the trumpet of God (katabesetai); and the dead in Christ will
rise first. Then we who are still alive and remain will be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be
with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words."
The term
*parousian* (παρουσίαν, presence), translated as "coming" in Chapter 4, Verse
15, and *katabesetai* (second coming), the coming in Chapter 4, Verse 16, have
different meanings. Therefore, at the time of Jesus' second coming, the
pioneers of faith who existed before Christ will rise first, and subsequently,
the saints will also become the Kingdom of God in spiritual bodies through
Jesus' second coming.
Christ has already
returned and entered into the saints. Thus, they become a temple and the
Kingdom of God. Thus, they become *parousian*. Christ entering into the saints
is *katabesetai*, and thus a temple is established within the saints' hearts,
and He dwells (*parousian*) within them. Those who do not believe that Christ's
second coming has already taken place in the saints will face the second coming
of judgment.
Saints living in
the present experience the death of their former selves and are transformed
into a spiritual body, receiving the Logos (Parousian [παρουσίαν], the
presence). In 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, the Apostle Paul speaks of the spiritual
body: "Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall
all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye—at the last trumpet. For the trumpet
will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be
changed." This speaks of the spiritual body. Transformation does not mean
that the physical body suddenly converts into a spiritual body, but rather that
the former self dies and one is born from heaven into a spiritual body. It
means that the physical body dies with Jesus Christ and one is born again into
a spiritual body through the power of the Holy Spirit.
