Spiritual things are discerned spiritually.

 Spiritual things are discerned spiritually.

1 Corinthians 2:13 "We speak of these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, discerning spiritual things spiritually."

The work of the Holy Spirit first causes the world to operate. Although Satan rules the world for a certain period, the Holy Spirit is the ruler of all things (the Spirit of the world). And when a sinner repents and is born again, the Holy Spirit causes him to be born into new life. He is born again of water and the Spirit. The Holy Spirit causes those who are dead to the world to be born again, and gives baptism to those who are born again.

Furthermore, the Holy Spirit enables us to realize that the Logos is present and working within the hearts of believers (the indwelling Holy Spirit). And when believers preach the gospel of Christ, the Holy Spirit enables them to bear witness (the ex-dwelling Holy Spirit). The ex-dwelling Holy Spirit is also referred to as the other Counselor (helping) Spirit; He gives fullness and departs. Therefore, nothing can be done without the Holy Spirit.

Therefore, spiritual matters will vary depending on whether or not the Holy Spirit is at work. When the Holy Spirit is at work, the dead spirit comes to life and realizes the works of God, but if the Holy Spirit is not at work, everything is judged by the eyes of the flesh.
1 Corinthians 2:14-15: “The man of the flesh (psychikos) does not receive (anthropos) the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man (pneumatikos) judges (ana krinei) all things, but he himself is judged by no one.”

Pseukykos (Sarx) is limited life. Andropos (ἄνθρωπος) is man. Pseukykos Andropos is a person who possesses life (the fleshly body: the old man). The fleshly body, as the old man, must die with Jesus. Otherwise, they are those who crucify Jesus. Therefore, one must be born of a new man from heaven. The old man must die, because the old man possesses a body of sin.

All people who possess a body of sin become beings who must die to God, and thus become their own masters. Those who are their own masters have no relationship with God and perform religious acts in their own way. Representative examples include legalism, prosperity theology, and Gnosticism. Such people are those who lack the Holy Spirit.

Those who possess the Holy Spirit are interested solely in the Kingdom of God. Therefore, they realize God's will and put it into practice. God's will is to convey the Kingdom of Heaven within the heart to all people. Thus, He leads them to realization, and to those who realize and repent, God makes the Kingdom of God through the new person. This is the work of preaching the gospel.
Pneumatikos (πνευματικὸς) is a spiritual person. Anakrinei (ἀνακρίνεται) means judging from heaven. A spiritual person is one born of heaven and judges all matters according to the will of heaven. A person who is not spiritual judges according to their own thoughts.

If spiritual growth has not taken place, it will cause much confusion. The Holy Spirit helps the spiritual growth of believers and assists them in overcoming the carnal mind. Two situations can occur among those who consider themselves saints. There are those who commit sin while thinking of themselves as saints—those who believe they have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, even though they have not. Therefore, they think they are saved, but without the Holy Spirit, they are not saved.

There are those who commit sin while thinking of themselves as saints—those who believe they have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, even though they have not. Therefore, they think they are saved, but without the Holy Spirit, they are not saved.

Romans 8:5-10: “Those who live according to the flesh think about the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit think about the things of the Spirit. For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. The mind of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. If the Spirit of God dwells in you, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Christ. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness.”

If one who has received the baptism of the Holy Spirit demands the blood of Jesus Christ every day to receive forgiveness for sins, they become one who crucifies Jesus again; therefore, they must remember every day that the body of sin has died. Thus, reflecting on the words of the Apostle Paul, "I die daily," the saint must also remember that they are one who dies daily.

Romans 8:26-27: “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings that cannot be expressed. And he who searches the hearts knows what the Spirit thinks, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
Christians who have become saints must keep the Ten Commandments in their hearts and ensure they do not forget them, and they must ensure that the Word never departs from them. Therefore, when such a situation arises, they should rely on the Holy Spirit and act autonomously by judging with a spiritual heart in light of God's will.

For example, although we are told not to kill, there are those who refuse military enlistment. This is likely because they fear they might commit murder if war breaks out. However, one must take up arms to defend against the enemy and save the people. This is not murder; rather, it is judging those who commit murder. Just as we are told not to lie, we do not have to tell everything exactly as it is; we may tell a white lie to help others. Those guided by the Holy Spirit are not bound by the written words of the Bible but act with a spirit's heart.
