What does baptism mean?
Romans (6:4-7)『Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.』
The Apostle Paul
spoke of baptism: Baptism does not wash away sin, but the evil in one’s mind will die. Baptism has the same meaning as circumcision in the
Old Testament. Circumcision has two meanings. First, it means having a seed of
promise, Secondly, the flesh means death. So circumcision is the shadow of
baptism.
The Bible(Romans
1:29-31) explains evil : Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication,
wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit,
malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters,
inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding,
covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful
What does it
mean to be baptized without evil dying? The magician Simon was baptized. He
wants to buy God's gift for money. In the Bible(Acts 8:22) Peter told him :
Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought
of thine heart may be forgiven thee. Repentance is not only to confess sin, but
to die of evil for sin. The Bible (1Peter 3:21) explains repentance : and this
water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also--not the removal of dirt from
the body but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. It saves you by the
resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we had lived in Noah 's time, we would have
died in the water.
Evil must
die. Jesus who died on the cross because of evil in me. Looking at Jesus' terrible
death, we must realize that our evil are dead together. God saves those who
repent from evil. The Bible (Romans 6:6-7): Knowing this, that our old man is
crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we
should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
The Bible (Galatians 6:14)
: But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
