Why humans were born dead ?

It feels like dying is the result of a trial because someone did something wrong. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.(Genesis 2:17) This is an event in the Garden of Eden, but it implies an event in the kingdom of God.

The spirit, trapped in the body, may be waiting for the death of the flesh, like a butterfly peeling off the shell of the body. The death of the body is the moment when the spirit is revive again. The death of the flesh is the separation of this world, but the spirit is the rebirth in the kingdom of God.

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.(Romans 6: 4)

Although the flesh is alive, the reason for the saint's declaration that he is dead is that he must know that he is born again with new life. What happens if you are not born again? To be born again, you must be united with Jesus who died on the cross.

If you are not united with the dead Jesus, the spirit in the flesh cannot survive. So the dead spirit wears burning clothes. burning clothes is the result of the resurrection of damnation. And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:29)
