Trespasses and sins

And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; (Ephesians 2: 1) trespasses means sin in this world, and sins mean original sin. Original sin is sinfulness inherited from parents. The Apostle Paul explicate the original sin as like old-man. The old-man were Hebrew people who said that if we enter the land of Canaan, shall be die. They did not believe in God's covenant to give the land of Canaan. Today, for people, old-man means sinfulness. Sinfulness prevents faith in God's promises. So sinfulness must be die.『Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.』(Romans 6: 6-7) 『Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;』(Colossians 3: 9) That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; The old-man means the heart of greed. The heart of greed is idol. This greed is the desire to be like God. Many people think they can be gods because of the idol of greed. 『Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:』 (Colossians 3: 5) The Apostle John also said:『Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.』(1 John 2:15)
