If I say the truth, why do ye not believe

(John 8: 45-59) And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God. Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is ...

Four figures

(John 12: 1-11) Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead. There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always. Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might ...

Misconception of sin

Q/A 1: What is the sin that God says? In God's eyes, sin is sin that wants to be like God and wants to leave God. After all, all humans living in this world are those who have left God and are sinners in God's sight. Q/A 2: What is original sin? Original sin is divided into spiritual original sin and physical original sin. Spiritual original sin is the desire to become like God in the kingdom of God. The original sin of the flesh is greed (old man: sin nature) who ate the fruit of a tree that knew good and evil because he wanted to become like God in the Garden of Eden. This greed is passed on from generation to generation through seed. Q/A 3: Worldly sin and paying the penalty? Even on this earth, when a person sins, he goes to jail. When he comes out of prison after his sentence, he returns not as a sinner but as a natural person. Likewise, original sin is resurrected when a person dies, puts on a spirit body, and is returned to the kingdom of God. However, if he commits...

On the salvation

Q/A 1: What is the meaning of salvation? Salvation is saving the spirit. Spiritual salvation comes to those who earnestly desire and seek to know about the kingdom of God. If people see this world beautifully and living in this world is considered a blessing, they will not be interested in the spirit or the kingdom of God. Salvation is what spiritually poor people in this world seek for the kingdom of God. The spiritually poor are those who realize that they have left God, mourn, and have a heart to escape from spiritual darkness. Like the Israelites trapped in Egypt and enslaved, the situation of crying out to God comes as a means of salvation. The process of salvation can be explained as a journey like the Exodus. It is the process of exodus due to the blood of the Lamb, crossing the Red Sea and being cut off from Egypt (the world), the old man dies in the wilderness, and the new man crosses the Jordan River into Canaan. Canaan symbolizes Christ. Q/A 2: painting lamb's blood T...

Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. (Luke 12: 2-7) For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops. And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. It highlights the fact that God created humans, "you are more valuable than many sparrows." Many churches make humans idols. However, we must know that "Humans were built to...

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also

『For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; 』 With this title, you may hear some churches say that it is good to make many offerings. But this is not the meaning of "make a lot of offerings." In the Old Testament, "to give something to God" means "to be destroyed before God." "The beast is burned to death." 『beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 』 (Romans 12: 1) To give to God is to be destroyed before God. What is offered to God is distinct. The distinction is to be holy before God. In the Old Testament, all that was offered to God were not burned and stored in a storehouse called "Annual". To give to God is to burn. It is death, as Jesus Christ died. Tithing also means looking to Jesus Christ. Anything that is offered to God that is not ...

Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish

(Luke 13:1-5)There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilæans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilæans were sinners above all the Galilæans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. When Jesus was in this world, there were two kinds of events of this type. First, a man named Pilate killed a Galilean man and mixed his blood with a sacrifice. People asked Jesus about Pilate's wickedness and about those who had died unjustly by Pilate. But Jesus asked the dead Galilean, "Do you think that the dead Galilean has more sins than all the Galilean?" And he said, "If you do not repent, you will perish...

there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

(Luke 13:10-17) And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. spirit

Q/A 1: What is a spirit? Man is composed of body and spirit. By combining the body and the spirit, it became a living being. Thus, the spirit becomes part of an inseparable union from humans. In Genesis 2:7 『 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.』(kjv) A living soul means a living being. So, when a person dies, the life phenomenon (soul) disappears. The soul is nothing more than a life phenomenon. Life phenomena are expressed in emotions and memories. Q/A 2: Is there really a spirit? In Luke 8:55, 『And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. The daughter of the synagogue leader, Jairo, died. However, there is a story about Jesus going to his house and saving his daughter. The spirit returned because the daughter was alive. Q/A 3: Where do people come from and where do they go? Ecclesiastes 12:7 『Then shall the dust return to the earth as it ...

How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God

(Luke 18:24-25)『And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. 』 This is also recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark. Man was made in the image of God. What makes humans different from beasts is their longing for eternal things. The rich young man asked Jesus how to obtain eternal life. The Bible tells us that not only the rich young man, but everyone is good. The rich young man told Jesus that he was a good teacher. But Jesus replied that there is nothing but God who is good. All beings who do not obey God's Word are not good. All beings of disobedience become evil ones. It is said that the disobedient angels in the kingdom of God are evil, and Adam and Eve who failed to keep God's command in the Garden of Eden are evil. Jesus told the rich young man five of the Ten Commandme...

Spiritual blind man

And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging: And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant. And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by. And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him, Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. (Luke 18:35-43) The blind man screamed as he followed Jesus. This is because the blind heard rumors that Jesus healed the sick. “Son of David, have mercy on me.” C...

Disaster and the Church: Old Testament Reflections

Presbyterian Theological University Professor Hee-sook Bae 2020.03.16 It is the inevitable destiny of man to be born, old, sick and die (Eccl. 12:1-7). However, it is certainly not normal to have a large number of deaths collectively in a short period of time. The development of science and medicine seemed to have overcame many diseases, but the appearance of fear and terror in the whole world due to a new virus that appears frequently in recent years, such as Ebola, SARS, and swine flu, reminds us of the limitations of man standing before God. .In particular, Corona 19 has become pandemic beyond epidemic level, showing off unparalleled power compared to the past. Even the official worship service of the church, which has been trying to gather together, has been stopped, so you can guess the destructive power of Corona just by looking at this. While everyone is fully aware of the seriousness of Corona 19, it is as if we have become like "some people who abolish the gathering...
