Confession of Faith

 

In God, I believe that the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, is my Father.

 

In Jesus Christ, I believe that “He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was declared by God to be the only Son of God at His baptism, was tempted by Satan, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; His spirit descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead and appeared to men; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; He will sit with the “spiritually living” at the right hand of God, and come to judge the spiritually dead,” and that I too am “made equal” with Jesus Christ.

 

In the Holy Spirit, I believe that I am the holy church, a community of saints, and that after the forgiveness of sins, I am resurrected in a spiritual body and given eternal life.

 

I confess that I am a holy people of God, and I do not follow legalism, ecstasy, or mysticism, but only look to the kingdom of God. Amen.

Carnal desires are a collection of roughly seven characteristics: physical nature, blood ties, experience and knowledge, thoughts and ideologies, religious beliefs, self-righteousness, and the desire for dominance. These desires develop and diminish as we grow, but they remain constant overall. However, because these carnal desires establish a hostile opposition to God, they hinder and torment the spiritual growth of believers.
