Question 17. How did God create man?
Question 17. How did God create man?
Answer. After God had made all other creatures, he created man male and
female, the man's body made of the dust of the ground, and the woman from the
man's rib. He gave them living, rational, and immortal souls. He created them
in his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, and wrote his law
in their hearts, and gave them control over the creatures, and the ability to
keep his law, but he made them subject to corruption.
After God created all things,
he formed them out of the dust of the ground and breathed into them the breath
of life, and created man. Genesis 2:7 "God formed man from the dust of the
ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a
living being."
In Genesis 1:27,
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them." The Bible speaks of the creation of the
first man and the creation of man and woman. These two are not the same
creations, but different creations. It says that God created the first man, and
then through that first man, he created man and woman.
Most people think of the image of
God as knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, but the image of God is Christ.
In Colossians 1:15, it says, “He is the image of
the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” In English, it is translated as firstborn, and in Greek, it is
prototokos (πρωτότοκος). Prototokos (πρωτότοκος) means the one who is in front in an orderly manner. In the
predestination of Christ, it is the concept that Christ is the beginning of all
things. Therefore, Christ becomes the firstborn and the first person among all
creation.
The first man is one who has the image of God. The image of God means
the temple in the soul, and God is present in this temple. That is why the
first man is called Christ. However, man and woman are those who are born with
their own sins, so they are those who do not have the image of God. In order to
restore the image of God, it can only be obtained through the death of
atonement. Jesus Christ died the death of atonement, and those who are united
with Him are those who have the image of God restored.
