 Question 4: Why do you call it the greatest happiness?


Answer: Because if we do not know God, we are more miserable than animals.

The reason why attaining resurrection life, or eternal life, is the ultimate happiness is because there is no more sin or death. However, attaining resurrection life is not easy. It is a gift given to those who have died to the world. Death to the world signifies a change in one's identity.

Although we live in the world through our flesh, the old and new temples coexist within our souls, the identity of the saints lies in the new temple (the new person). The old temple is the physical body, the new temple is the spiritual body, and these two engage in a daily spiritual battle.

Romans 7:21-23 “Therefore I find it to be a law, that when I want to do good, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.” It appears as a thorn of Satan to the physical body, and as heaven to the spiritual body.

Even though the saints are saved, they still have a physical body and fight a spiritual battle every day through their physical body. The reason God keeps the saints in the body until death is for the sake of evangelism and to remind us of how terrible the sin of leaving God is.

Since the saints have attained eternal life, which is the greatest happiness, it is also a joy to fulfill God's will, even if it means suffering in the flesh, as a consolation.

Philippians 4:10-14 “But I rejoice in the Lord greatly that at the very last your care for me has revived; for you indeed did care for it, but you lacked opportunity. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

I know what it is to be abased, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, both well-fed and hungry, both in abundance and in need. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. But you did well to share in my suffering.”
