He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire
He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire
(Matthew 3:11-12) I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
The meaning of Sere John's baptism in water means to wash away sin. To wash away sins means to die in water. But after Jesus died on the cross, the meaning of baptism received is to die and be born again on the cross with Jesus. In Romans 6:3, "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?" 』God makes a person buried with Jesus reborn by the power of his Spirit. At this time, it can be said that baptism is the baptism of salvation in which people die and be reborn with Jesus Christ. The baptism of salvation works in the saints.
John the Baptist said, "He who comes after me will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." Jesus died on the cross and resurrected on the third day. Jesus did not show anyone the resurrection. In Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Since he said, showing the resurrection to all people will help in salvation, why did he show it to only a few? He showed it only to believers who followed the Lord with unchanging faith from beginning to end.
However, it was not easy for those who had seen the resurrection to convey the evidence of the resurrection to others. So, the Lord baptized the Holy Spirit. Before the Lord's ascension, “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. 』 Holy Spirit baptism has the power to save the spiritual life of others. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is given only to those who are born again, and those who try to receive the Holy Spirit without being born again receive the evil spirit, not the Holy Spirit.
The Lord did not say “baptism with fire” here. John the Baptist was said to be baptizing with fire, but since Jesus did not speak, he seldom said "baptize with fire." By the way, it is used once in Luke 12:49: I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? 』I mean, if you're on fire, you don't want anything else. What Jesus did for three years was to throw fire into the ground. And in verse 50, “But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! 』Many people may have heard of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Those who were baptized by the Holy Spirit were happy and could not bear it. So, in the eyes of unbelievers, they said, "They are drunk." When a person gets drunk, he forgets everything. Similarly, when he was baptized in the Holy Spirit, he said, "He is drunk with new alcohol."
New liquor means “Heaven is coming”. This is because the Gospel is preached. To preach the resurrection of Jesus Christ. In order to deliver this salvation, we seek baptism in the Holy Spirit.
